Play Advocates

Lana Chisholm

Leading with a commitment to social and environmental sustainability, my current role as a PhD candidate at Auckland University of Technology harnesses my expertise in quantifying the social and environmental determinants of health. With a focus on youth and urban design, my research aims to create lasting, positive outcomes for communities by integrating academic rigor and practical application.

Alex Bonham

I am a play researcher and an elected member of the Waitematā Local Board on Auckland Council. We make decisions on local services on behalf of communities in the city centre and inner suburbs. The goal is to ensure wellbeing of all for present and future generations. We are always accessible to those who live, work or study in the area and provide a conduit for your voice into local government. The provision of play opportunities through sports, arts, libraries, community centres, parks and events and enabling safe independent mobility for young and old is a core part of what we do.

Greg Gurau

Shyrel Burt

In my role as a planning specialist at Auckland Council I enable play in public spaces by advocating for and developing policy which provides for play. I have been involved in the design and delivery of play spaces. I enjoy bringing children's voices and perspectives into the design of places and spaces. I am the mother of a teenager and I am an advocate for play for all children.

Jacquelyn Collins

I’m very lucky to be in an awesome role that enables me to think and talk about play all day, while engaging with equally enthusiastic colleagues, community members, and local government politicians. Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland has the potential to be a splendidly playful city for children and adults alike, and I’m excited to work towards making that happen!
